Sonny's Famous Butter Chicken
Our signature dish: the Delhi classic, done the original way.
Tandoor-baked, brushed with butter, roasted garlic & cilantro.
Naan is the handshake of an Indian meal — and garlic naan is the one everyone remembers. Our dough is slapped against the wall of the tandoor, where it blisters and puffs in under a minute, then gets brushed with butter, roasted garlic, and cilantro while still too hot to touch.
The tandoor is the whole secret: 500-plus degrees of radiant heat produces a bread that's charred in spots, chewy in the middle, and impossible to replicate in a home oven. Naan's job is structural — tear, scoop, repeat — which is why we recommend 1.5 pieces per person with any curry order (it always runs out first). Want to level up? The Rosemary Cheese Garlic Naan ($6) adds salted butter, cheese, and rosemary. Going vegan? Tandoori Roti ($3) is vegan as served.

What guests ask us most about garlic naan.
Naan is a leavened flatbread baked against the walls of a tandoor (clay oven), where it puffs and chars in about a minute. It’s soft, chewy, and made for scooping curries.
Traditional naan is not: the dough typically contains dairy and ours is brushed with butter. Tandoori Roti and Tawa Roti are our vegan flatbreads, no modifications needed.
Plan on about 1.5 naan per person alongside curries — it’s always the first thing to run out. For a table of four sharing three entrees, order five to six breads.
